ASI (Air Space Intelligence) is a software company that helps airlines improve their operations. Their main platform, Flyways AI, is used by air carriers, such as Alaska Airlines, to optimize flight paths, which helps them save on fuel and reduce carbon emissions.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; They introduced a unique UI style that departs from the prevailing trend of soft, rounded aesthetics, which is dominant in the industry. As the original designer of the existing icons from 2023, I was asked to reference their new UI and art direction images to redesign the icons that align with the new direction. The challenge was creating shapes that aligned with the new UI. It wasn't just about replacing curves with straight lines; the key was ensuring the icons still captured the distinct features of each aircraft, especially when viewed at smaller sizes (as they appear on the actual screen). I was able to maintain the unique contours that would have been lost by simply straightening them out by using flexible, angular lines. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; This approach also brought more consistency to the entire set. Unlike the previous designs where each aircraft had a unique curvature, the use of straight lines allowed for the angles of each straight line to be more or less modular based on pixel coordinates. The result was a more systematized icon set with a consistent look that truly embodies the new UI of Aerospace Intelligence. Following the launch of Material Design 3 in 2024, the team further reimagined the system's components to be more expressive and diverse in terms of shape and color. This work aims to help users create products that are more engaging and user-friendly. I contributed to the web page component design for several guidelines, including Loading and Progress indicators, FAB and FAB menu, and Split buttons and Button groups. major design refresh for the Google ABC team's apps—Contacts, Dialer, and Messages—which were reborn with the new Material Design language. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; I worked closely with the ABC team's designers on the design of the Calling Card (a customizable feature in the Contact &amp; Dialer app that allows users to set a full-screen image and stylized text for how a person’s information appears when they call). This was a key customizable feature, and as previous projects showed, customization has been one of the biggest identities for Google's devices, such as the Pixel phone, since 2023. For the Messages app, I focused on three main tasks. First, I updated and clarified ambiguous status indicators (read receipts) after exploring a variety of options. Second, I categorized the various banners that were being used unsystematically in the app (appearing in different locations in different contexts), created a design system for them, and refined their visuals to align with the new Material Design.
